Home Away from Home for the Holidays

By Abby Jeffords

There is no place like home—especially during the holidays. It is home where fireplaces are lit, pumpkins are carved, cookies are baked, and decorations are hung, as well as where family and friends can gather and celebrate the year behind and look forward with anticipation to the year ahead.

Although the holiday season is full of good cheer, it also comes decked with its share of stress, from all of the parties with family, friends, and work to cooking, baking, wrapping, buying, eating, and cooking some more. In the middle of the holiday commotion, why not take a bit of a breather? You can head somewhere close to home, but just far enough away to detangle and release some of the stress, somewhere totally unique and fun for the entire family or a quiet and cozy getaway for you and your partner.

You may not think of glamping as a winter activity, but even if you’re in the snowy northern regions of the US, there are wonderful, one-of-a-kind places nearby, in which to hide away and recharge those holiday batteries.
