By Harpreet Kaur Deol

Around September and October is the time to visit California's Wine Country, which is when harvest season occurs as temperatures drop a little and the grapes ripen to make the perfect wine. Whether looking for a weekend away with the kids or a romantic getaway with your other half, there are over 400 wineries ready and waiting for wine lovers and enthusiasts alike. The kids might not be able to try the wine, but the adults will certainly appreciate it! Read on to find out just where to stay in Wine Country this fall.

Napa Valley is top on the list of places to stay, and this vintage caravan is a cozy place for couples to go on a relaxing retreat. There are around 14 different wineries near the accommodation, which gives glamping couples plenty of options when it comes to going on a tour, having a tasting, and even meeting and greeting the winemakers themselves. Of course, that’s not all this glamping site has to offer; there is also a hot springs spa resort not too far away, where glampers can have a romantic evening together.

Scooting over to Sonoma Valley, you could book a stay in this upscale Japanese farmhouse, ideal for accommodating a glamping family of up to eight guests. It is the perfect place to spend a long weekend during harvest time in Wine Country, as its amenities and nearby activities feature a little something for every type of glampers.

There’s a wrap around deck for those who love to relax, there’s scuba diving, kayaking, and canoeing for those who love the water, and there’s even horseback riding, tennis, and golf for those who like to keep their feet firmly on the ground. (Not to mention, there’s also the opportunity for adults to indulge in some wine tasting, and where better to do so than in the wine country itself?)

In the crisp evenings of a Californian Indian summer, you can all snuggle together around the fireplace, and enjoy some family bonding time with a warm cup of cocoa and some marshmallows—the kids have got to have something to drink after all!

This inviting cottage is also in the Sonoma Valley and can accommodate up to four glampers. It's only fair to mention the Sonoma area again, because it has been rated as the number one wine destination in the U.S and its top-ranked crop is, in fact, wine grapes.

The great thing about this glamping accommodation is that it’s not all about the wine; there are plenty of other places and activities that glampers can explore. The Californian coast and the Pacific Ocean are only a 20-minute drive away, and the Redwood Regional Park is in close in proximity to the glamping site, so glampers can go for a picnic in the warm harvest afternoons.

Glamping Games for the Whole Family

By Harpreet Kaur Deol

Heading out on a family glamping adventure? While there are sure to be a myriad of activities available on-site for you and your mini glampers, it’s never a bad idea to have a back-up plan—or three. We’ve gathered a variety of ideas for you to ensure that everyone stays entertained, no matter what their age and what type of glamping accommodation you choose to stay in.

I Spy

Start with I Spy, the classic game that requires the “spy” to give a clue about something they’ve seen, which is sometimes even just a letter or a color, and then the rest of the group has to figure out what the spy has seen. Additional clues can be provided by the spy, but only if they so choose.

I Spy is the perfect game for a nature hike and will help the kids really pay attention to the stunning surroundings of the glamping site. You may even notice flora and fauna that you wouldn’t have, if it weren’t for this simple and fun form of amusement. We suggest playing among the picturesque scenery of this tipi in Colorado.

Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is another great way to get the whole family involved in a group game. This requires one person to hide various objects around the glamping site—or you can even try to find things that already exist in nature. Get creative and competitive!

Set a time limit on finding the selected items, and whoever comes back with the most items at the end wins. This is but another way to make sure that the mini glampers in your group really take time to explore their surroundings while luxury camping, and this glamping cottage in Vermont is an ideal destination for this type of entertainment.

Group Storytelling

At the end of each day as everyone is winding down for the night, group storytelling around a fire pit is an enjoyable, yet relaxing, way to pass the time. Our version, however, involves a special twist. One person will start the story off with a sentence, and as you go around the campfire, each person will add their own sentence.

From fairytales with princesses and action stories with dinosaurs, the end result is up to you and your family—the possibilities are endless! You’ll be amazed by how everyone’s imaginations feed off of one another, and this lodge in North Carolina has an enormous, riverfront fire pit that is waiting to hear what you’ll come up with.

Many glamping rentals also come with board games, a great diversion on rainy days, if the weather takes a turn for the worse. We encourage you to make up your own games or put your own twist on our ideas, too. With so many possibilities, boredom is sure to never strike on your family glamping vacation.

By Harpreet Kaur Deol

Create lasting moments with your future groomsmen, without having to piece the night together by clues from photos taken on your smart phone. A weekend at one of these glamping destinations is sure to give you a unique, outdoor bachelor party that you won’t struggle to remember.

In Mexico, you and your buddies will find a relaxing casita with a private beach and garden or a beachfront cabana where you can learn to cook authentic Mexican food. Sit back and enjoy each other’s company while doing a tequila tasting, instead of sampling the cheapest version available at a spring break-style bar.

alt

Drive up to Canada for an unforgettable weekend in an authentic Mongolian yurt, situated just an hour west of Montreal. The yurts can be installed in various sizes to suit your bachelor party’s needs. Don’t shy away from booking a massage for the group—this glamping property offers them on-site, and it’s the perfect way to get rid of any pre-wedding jitters.

alt

Make your childhood dreams come true with your best guys in a luxury tree house in Quebec, hidden away from all the hustle and bustle of the city in a 2,000-acre protected regional park. We’re envisioning you all chilling out around the outdoor fire pit, swapping old stories about the groom and your past escapades together, local craft beer in hand. Be sure to stop by Bier Markt in downtown Montreal to pick up a six pack or two before heading to the accommodation.

Adventure-seeking bachelors will love to host their dudes’ weekend at an upscale nature lodge in Texas that is conveniently located near Big Bend National Park. With over 800,000 acres of land to explore hiking and biking, it’s the perfect destination for an active bachelor party. Later on, head to the pool, or play a game of volleyball, before catching an on-site, live music performance on both Fridays and Saturdays.

alt

A glamping bachelor party is the best way to get some down time before the chaos of the big day, and we bet you’ll end up valuing one last weekend together with just the guys before you start your life as a married man. We’re also fairly certain you’ll be thankful that you didn’t give your groomsmen any new, embarrassing stories to tell during their wedding toasts.
